Spag Bol (Spaghetti Bolognaise)

300g – 500g mince (about 120g per person) = £3.00 – £5.00 depending on quality and weight

2 tins of chopped tomatoes (with garlic and herbs if preferable) = £0.45 per tin

1 jar of bolognaise or yummy pasta sauce = £1.80 per jar

Chopped Brown Onion = £0.20 each

2 cloves of chopped/crushed Garlic = £0.80 for a 3 pack

Herbs, salt and pepper (to taste)

Optional Selection of chopped fresh vegetables of your choice (Mushrooms = £1.00 per bag, Carrots = £1.00 per bag, Peppers = £0.80 each, etc.)

Grated Cheese = £2 – £4.50 for a 250g/300g block

Spaghetti, Fettuccini or Linguine (any pasta of choice) = £1.00 per 1kg pack

Method: Lightly fry onions and a little garlic. Add mince and cook until it is just brown. Add both tins of tomatoes, jar of pasta sauce, more garlic, herbs and seasoning. Add a small amount of water and bring to the boil. Add other vegetables, stir thoroughly and simmer for 20 minutes. During simmer time, separately cook pasta.  Once the pasta is ready and the bolognaise has thickened to your liking, serve hot with grated cheese.
