OXO Tower Wharf

The OXO Tower was originally a power station built towards the end of the 19th century and rebuilt as Art Deco in 1929 and refurbished in the 1990s by Coin Street Community Builders (CSCB). It is located on the south bank of the Thames River between the Waterloo Bridge and Blackfriars Bridge.

Now an award winning landmark, it is home to internationally renowned contemporary design studios, specialty shops, residential apartments and gallery spaces, Bargehouse and gallery@oxo. OXO’s fine dining British restaurant, the OXO Tower cocktail bar & open plan contemporary brasserie, all on the 8th floor, are open seven days a week for lunch and dinner.

The spectacular 250 foot terrace on the 8th floor offers a public viewing platform overlooking the expansive north bank of the Thames River, including views of St Paul’s Cathedral.

How to get there:

Nearest Train & Underground Station: Blackfriars Station, Mansion House, Southwark and London Bridge

The closest station is Blackfriars Station or Mansion House on the north bank (opposite) of the Thames River. However, Southwark and London Bridge are also within close walking distance.

The Northern Line, Jubilee Line and overground trains from all over London and south England stop at London Bridge Station.

The Jubilee Line goes through Southwark tube station.

The District Line and the Circle Line go throughBlackfriars Station and Mansion House.

Bus:

Nearest stops on the south bank of the Thames River are located at Lavington Street on Southwark Street, Great Guilford Street on Southwark Street, Southwark Bridge/Bankside Pier.

The nearest bus stop on the north bank of the Thames River is Millennium Bridge or Blackfriars Station.

RV1 (to/from Covent Garden & Tower Gateway), 381 (to/from Peckham), 344 (to/from Clapham Junction Station and Appold Street), 388 (to/from Hackney Wick and Blackfriars Station),

Ferry:

Bankside Pier is the closest pier for The River Bus. Catch the LR2.

The River Bus (do not confuse with The River Tour) will operate every 15-30 minutes and stop at Bankside Pier from London Eye, Embankment, London Bridge, Canary Wharf, Woolwich Arsenal, Blackfriars and Greenwich.

Tip: purchase your ticket from the ticket office prior to boarding the boat. Adult tickets are £5.40 for Oyster holders.

Barclays Cycle Hire:

The nearest docking stations are located at New Globe Walk (near Shakespeare’s Globe), Bankside Mix on Southwark Street and Poured Lines on Southwark Street.

Another is located at Queen Victoria Street at St Paul’s on the north bank of the Thames River (walk over Millennium Bridge).
